Hydromorphic pedogenesis – The sum of processes taking place in soils permanently or periodically saturated with water. The change of reductive and oxidative pedogenic conditions is the result of waterlogging. For that reason, these soils are heterogeneous in colour and are characterised by brownish (Fe3+) spots and bluish or greenish ones (Fe2+) due to gleization. The permanent waterlogging determines the genesis of bog soils or Hystosols.
